![]() On Saturday 4 October 2014, at 7.00pm, the London Welsh Literature Festival will end with a Gala Concert at the City Temple, Holborn Viaduct, featuring the London Welsh Chorale, the London Welsh Male Voice Choir, the Gwalia Male Choir, the Sydney Welsh Choir and the London Welsh Brass Ensemble. The concert is also the last concert on the Sydney Welsh Choir’s tour of the UK and Ireland. It will celebrate Welsh music and poetry and feature the work of Dylan Thomas in this centenary year of his birth. All four choirs will perform individually and together and there will be opportunities for audience participation! The singing will be interspersed with the poetry of Thomas and others and the Chorale will première both Edward-Rhys Harry’s setting of Thomas’s poem “The Force That Through the Green Fuse”, commissioned by Thomas’s son-in-law, Trefor Ellis, and his family, and the winning works from the Chorale’s competition for young composers to set the poem “The Hand that Signed the Paper”. It promises to be a fantastic evening of words and music. Please save the date. Tickets, priced at £15, will be available shortly from the London Welsh Centre and directly from the choirs. Profits will go to support the London Welsh Centre Refurbishment Fund.
